A new house calls for a new living room design. Well, a few new items maybe, eventually, over time. I'm not good at that. And I'm finding that Josh isn't either. We both want instant gratification, well, instantly. Got to work on patience!
Below is what our living room currently looks like. I've loved it. It is cozy and inviting. The floor plan in the new house is much more of the open concept feel. Our kitchen, breakfast nook and living room are basically one nice large space. We have lots of natural light too, which I've loved having in our current house. Sofas will definitely be recycled and used at the new house.
Based on the paint colors we selected (which you can read about here), I'm shooting for a more neutral space with warm grays and interesting textures. The red accents are out, and I'm hoping to bring in some turquoise or mustard via accessories and the screened in porch immediately off the living room.
Here's the rug I'm loving right now. Pottery Barn actually has it at a pretty good price. We need the 9'x12' so it's a big purchase. Unfortunately, everyone else loves it too because it's back-ordered until November 30th!
Coffee table - right now, we've got an upholstered bench. I love this bench, but I'd like to see it at the foot of our bed instead. This look below is so great, and I especially love that it is square. This table is on sale right now at Wisteria. My only hesitation is that it's a tad modern for our taste and I'm afraid it may limit other furniture like side tables (we have some antique tables now that I love and want to continue to use).
My mom has great, rustic taste and discovered the table below at Pottery Barn. This may be more in line with our style/other pieces. I've got a distressed Asian style table (steal at Scott's from Mom when I moved into my condo pre-Josh) that I'd love to use behind the sofa if there's space and these two would blend a bit better than the above option, I think.
Can't wait to see these lamps (another steal at Scott's) where they belong! They are incredibly over-sized in our current house but they still make me smile.
Eventually, we'd love a leather chair but that's gonna have to wait. We have our eye on this one from Restoration Hardware. Would you ever guess it's a recliner?! Love the tufting and nail heads.
Finally, some throw pillows in neutral charcoal and brown tones would complete the look. I love these two different yet complimentary patterns together. And actually, they aren't all that bad with the existing brown and white zebra pillows we already own.
What color would you use as an accent through accessories? Opinions needed!
