Patience is not one of my strong suits. My due date has come and gone, and although I realize it's not uncommon to be late with your first baby, it sure is annoying! My mom was a week late with me, so I'm guessing I will follow her lead. If no baby by Tuesday, I go back to the doctor for a quick check in. If no baby by Thursday, I will be induced. It's clearly a very personal choice but I am really wanting to avoid induction. I want to go into labor, naturally, at home, I want to feel the contractions and then be whisked away to the hospital for a quick and relieving epidural :) I want this baby to decide when she is ready to come.
She is in "launch position," according to my doctor. He guesses she will be about 8 lbs. I have hoped for a chubby baby! She is still moving around a lot and kicking my insides like nuts. I'm having lots of Braxton Hicks, lower back pain and cramping. In other words, I'm there.
I'm officially on maternity leave, which is really weird. It's nice to change focus a bit and of course, needed at this point in time, but I've walked into the Presenting Atlanta office just about every day for going on 7 years now. Needless to say, I'm having to keep myself busy, but I've never had a problem there.
The nursery is functional, but not complete. Yesterday, I tackled one project that's been on the list for a while. I found a milk glass lamp and simple shade at IKEA for $40. It was cute but a little too blah. I spent about $3 on some trim at Hancock's and now it looks like this. Adore it!
Here are a few sneak peeks of the nursery, until it's really show ready.
This is an antique piece - actually, a children's bookcase and we are using it as just that. My mom painted it a distressed gray with a turquoise interior that really pops.
I just got these from Ballard Designs in rubbed white to hang over her changing table. I really wanted numbers, like 1 through 9 in funky finishes but couldn't find what I was envisioning.
Another antique piece. Josh painted the rocking chair to match the bookcase and that was my stuffed bear growing up. The poof is from Joss & Main...much more affordable than so many out there.
It will be nice to have the nursery completed...and even better to have a babe in it!
