Home projects have certainly been scaled back since the arrival of our little one, but our screened in porch was something that I absolutely had to get under my belt before spring time. We have already loved using this space on nice days. It is right off our living room and we feel like we have a whole new room to use.
My inspiration for the color scheme came from looking through the Ballard Designs catalog. Because our living room, kitchen and breakfast area are all very neutral, I thought the porch would be a great place to introduce some color. We had the porch stained a deep brown and the ceiling painted our trim color (off white), so I decided to bring in rust. Plus, rust looks great with greenery! This is the palate I was working with:
And thankfully, Ballard was offering 15% off on their outdoor pillows, so I ordered away. Would eventually love to do drapes in this space but I didn't think it necessary to do right away. I think that would really add some height in there.
We found the outdoor furniture on sale at Macy's and I am so happy with it. It is very comfortable and looks great too. The rug was in our bedroom at our old house.
Both the lantern above and the chair below (I snagged two of them) are from HomeGoods. The lantern was a gift but the two chairs were only $35 each and offer additional seating when needed.
I brought the barrel out from the living room and added a lamp from Target. I'm so thrilled with their Threshold line. Attractive things with an equally attractive price tag.
